inToday we utilised the 48 hour bus ticket after a very odd breakfast which catered for every nationality. Mary had fish, veal sausage and fruit!
We started on the inevitable Star ferry then caught a bus which toured Hong Kong Central area. We stopped off at a Taoist temple on the way and the first experience of the squatting Chinese loo. After a snack in the harbour view cafe we then hopped on the red tour which included a much changed Repulse bay stop. Very commercialised from when I lived there. On to Stanley where we trawled the market and the waterfront. The beach where I spent a good part of my years here is now an extensive sailing club. I remember that as a small beach with shack and the army sailing fleet of a few toppers. On the way back we stopped at the Peak tram where I was incredibly brave and went on the sky platform. We’ll done Amanda for the hypnosis. Then it rained hard so we are in Burger King waiting for sunset enjoying free wi if and a hot chocolate.

inToday was day 1 of the holiday. The ‘plane took off about an hour late meaning we didn’t arrive until 12.15. By 2pm we had negotiated the MTR,transferred to a shuttle bus and checked in to th hotel. We are on the fifteenth floor above Nathan Road in Kowloon. The hotel is situated amidst all the designer shops from Cartier to Clarks!
After a quick freshen up we meandered down to tourist information, booked a 48 hour hop on and off bus for the next 2 days then sampled the delights of Star Ferry across to Hong Kong Island. We then completed a waterfront walk before returning to Kowloon and our first Chinese meal…which included Peking duck of course.
After dinner we enjoyed the Chinese decorations on the harbour front and the light show which takes place each night at 8. A quick purchase of water and milk then a wander through Nathan road back to the hotel. Finding the light switch proved problematic. We were facing a bright night when Mary stumbled upon the switch on the side of her bedside table.
Tomorrow the Big bus….”.

in33 degrees and 80 percent humidity. Taking a walk in a sauna. We are currently exploring Kowloon having successfully negotiated mtr train from airport and shuttle bus. Hotel room gives us vertigo! Glass loo door with air gaps. Very friendly….or not. Flight bumpy and late. Feel just about ok. Love to all.

inThe decisions on what to take are piling up and needing a lot of telephone consultation. Contacting the various folks we are visiting and consulting on likely weather also takes time. Both of us are nervous and excited all at the same time.
